Next week, 68 collegiate basketball teams will go head to head for the title of National Champions in the March Madness tournament. To kick off the competition, our car connoisseurs here at Caliber have compiled a list of some of the most notable cars in the basketball world. From luxurious sports cars, to vintage throwbacks, we’re shifting into overtime and checking out the coolest cars in the NBA.

As we jumpstart this list of greats, we begin with the “NBA’s Greatest Style God,” Walt “Clyde” Frazier. The New York Knicks point guard quickly became known for his skills on the court, and his style off of it. From turtlenecks and chains, to capes and big hats (earning him the nickname ‘Clyde’ from the 1967 classic), Frazier earned himself a prominent place in the spotlight. Aside from his attire, Frazier’s signature move was to drive around NYC in his Rolls Royce. Frazier, many would say, set the pace for basketball’s greatest stars and made riding-in-style synonymous with NBA success.

Although Stephen Curry can be spotted in any number of cars – Porsches, Mercedes Benzes, Teslas, Kias and Cadillacs – perhaps his most expensive car to date is his Range Rover Sport LWB. The 30-year-old Warriors point guard purchased the luxury SUV for more than $210,000, with custom 22-inch wheels and painted trim. And while Curry’s infamous trick shots may be iconic, his tricked-out vehicles are what set him apart from the rest and earn him a place on our list of top NBA engines.

As loyal to his McLarens as he is to the Miami Heat, Dwayne Wade has owned multiple of the British manufacturer’s models and currently owns an MP4-12C, as well as the jointly manufactured Mercedes SLR McLaren. Like the athlete himself, McLarens are known for their superstar performance and unmistakable style. The 6’4 athlete is a tight fit inside the beautiful ride, but worth it considering it houses a V8 hand-built engine that delivers 626 horsepower, enabling it to go from 0—60mph in just 3.8 seconds. Talk about a fast break.

When you’re an inch shy of 7-feet tall, it’s a little tricky to find a ride to accommodate your size. Lucky for Dwight Howard, the first fully-armoured ultra-luxurious SUV boasts 40-inch wheels and plenty of space for the superstar athlete. The Wizards’ power forward takes his position to the next level, powering forward in his 13,000 lb, 8-foot tall truck. In addition to the 4,000 hours required to build this monster, Howard also had the back seats removed to accommodate his LCD screen and Xbox. From position four, to four-wheel-drive, Howard really knows how to make a statement.

The scoresheet for NBA cars would be incomplete without mentioning Lebron James’ Lamborghini Aventador. Back in 2013, the LA Lakers superstar unveiled a new sneaker and, with it, a matching Lamborghini Aventador. Exotic and luxury car companies Lou La Vie, Rich B Caliente and Toys for Boys teamed up to design a one-of-a-kind car, wrapped in the same pattern as the tropical liner of James’ Nike Lebron 11 ‘King’s Pride’ sneakers. In the realm of NBA superstar cars, this one is definitely a slam dunk.

Court to court, arena to arena, NBA players across the nation always bring their A-game. From their stylish moves on the court, to their swanky cars on the road, basketball players can’t help but ride in style. And if your ride slam dunks a little too hard, our team here at Caliber Collision is always here, ready to get you back in the game by Restoring the Rhythm of Your Life.®
