Autumn is here at last, and the changing foliage signals the start of one of the most memorable times of the year – festival season. The newfound colors and crisp autumn scents help create the perfect time to celebrate everything from apples to hot air balloons, and our experts at Caliber Collision have raked up a few of the nation’s best right here. If you’re planning a road trip to join in the fun this season, be sure to pinpoint these five famous festivals before you go.

Pennsylvania – National Apple Harvest Festival
Discover a slice of the good life in the heart apple country at the National Apple Harvest Festival in Arendtsville, Pennsylvania. To celebrate all things autumn, the Pennsylvania towns of Arendtsville and Biglerville come together to pay homage to the apple and its seemingly endless uses. There are hundreds of arts and crafts dealers, live music, craftsman demonstrations, orchard tours, a petting zoo, antique cars, steam engine displays, and even appearances by the Pennsylvania Apple Queen herself. No matter if you’re apple bobbing or head bobbing, the Apple Harvest Festival has something for every fall fan out there.

Maine – Harvest on the Harbor
As our avid “leaf peepers” out there might already know, New England is home to some the country’s best autumn scenery, but don’t count the coast out. The harbors of Portland, Maine manage to take fall to a whole new level – under the sea, that is. Harvest on the Harbor celebrates Maine’s finest locally sourced foods, beers, wines, and even uses the event to coronate the “Lobster Chef of the Year.” The Portland dining scene has been gaining national and international traction, producing four James Beard Award-winning chefs, and more than 250 restaurants perfecting the culinary art of preparing local, safely harvested seafood. For anyone looking to try a new flavor of Fall, Harvest on the Harbor is a must-see.

New Mexico – Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta
Starting with 13 balloons in 1972 and currently hosting over 600 in 2018, it’s safe to say the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta has blown up. Every fall, the painted horizons of New Mexico are dotted with countless hot air balloons of every shape and color imaginable. Be sure to get there early to witness the “Mass Ascension” (when all participating balloons are launched simultaneously) for a truly breathtaking sight When you’re not watching or even riding in balloons by day, bring a blanket and check out the nighttime attractions like the Balloon Glow or AfterGlow Fireworks Show. Looking to the sky instead of the leaves during fall may seem out of place at first, but it quickly becomes the experience of a lifetime for festival-goers.

Ohio – The Pumpkin Show
Endless acres of gorgeous gourds put the little town of Circlevill on the map every October. A festival as classically “fall” they come, The Pumpkin Show is a pie-eating, egg-tossing, hog-calling good time. Titled “the greatest free show on earth,” the festival’s other events include a parade of over 9,000 fall fanatics, a “World’s Largest Pumpkin Pie” competition, a pumpkin toss and more pumpkin recipes than we thought imaginable. With a name like “The Pumpkin Show,” it’s a sure bet that this festival won’t fall short for any outdoor-loving autumn lover.

North Carolina – Pecan Harvest Festival
No matter how you pronounce “Pecan,” one thing every nutty fan can agree on is that Whiteville, North Carolina is the place to be in the fall. Every year, the Pecan Harvest Festival hosts nearly 20,000 people to celebrate the area’s most abundant autumn crop. The Pecan Run sets the entire festival off on the right foot, followed by antique car shows, local art and enough delicious pecan-based recipes to make any flavor seeker crack a smile.

While these fall-themed events are at the top of our list, there are endless ways to celebrate the season. No matter if you’re looking for hay rides or thrill rides, one thing you shouldn’t have to hunt for is someone to fix your own ride. Should a bit of bad luck strike this season, our collision repair experts are always here to restore the rhythm of your life and get you back to enjoying the festivities.

From all of us at Caliber Collision, happy autumn!
