Spring has just about sprung, meaning it's a great time to get a jump on planning your spring break - with a little help from our experts at Caliber of course. We've searched far and wide and found a few places where you can kick off your shoes, or lace up your boots, and enjoy some much-needed downtime. From coastlines to coffee shops, we've found a little something for everyone, and invite you to pack your bags and hit the road as we explore our top Spring Break destinations.
South Padre Island, Texas
South Padre Island has been a staple for spring breakers ever since the 80s, and for good reason. This 25-mile stretch of beach on the southern tip of Texas is the perfect place to both relax and rock out. Some of the nation's hottest musical acts perform on the beach during March, so you can soak in some sun along with the sounds. Even though the days are typically sunny and in the 70s, what makes this city truly stand out are lodging prices that are just as temperate. For a beach that won't break the bank, South Padre is the place to be.
Lake Havasu, Arizona
Sporting tranquil waters, rugged mountains and more than 300 days of sunshine a year, Lake Havasu is a picture-perfect destination for not only spring break, but the entire year. This hidden gem of a city borders Arizona and California, and boasts everything from 400 miles of shoreline to the literal London Bridge - which was shipped and reassembled over the lake in 1971. Another sight that's sure to brighten your day (and night) is the nation's largest collection of functioning lighthouses. These structures not only light the lake at night, but also pay homage to lighthouses found across the country, illuminating the subtle differences between West Coast, East Coast and Great Lakes architectures.
Acadia All-American Road, Maine
If you'd rather soak up the scenery than the sun, Acadia All-American Road offers one of the most beautiful drives on the East Coast. This 40-mile route is punctuated with granite-capped mountains, crystal lakes and spruce-fir forests that we wouldn't mind getting lost in. The neighboring village of Bar Harbor makes for a perfect base as you spend the week exploring the sights, smells and tastes of America's Northeast. As evidenced by the countless lobster buoys bobbing offshore, the village has no shortage of ocean-fresh seafood, and is one of the few places where the dish on the table was most likely reeled in from right off the Atlantic.
For those looking to spend their break somewhere off the beaten path, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is the perfect place to get away from it all. Spring break in the Smokies doesn't have to be secluded, though. If there's still snow, you can hit the slopes of Ober Mountain, or you can always spend your days downtown, enjoying the area's incredible pancake offerings and moonshine distilleries. For our thrill seekers, Dolly Parton's "Dollywood" theme park reopens every March, and, in 2018, will debut the world's fastest wooden roller coaster - along with a park full of fun.
No matter where your time off takes you, if your vehicle happens to get bumped during the break, know that a Caliber Collision Center won't be too far away. Whether you're on a vacation - or even a stay-cation - any of our 550+ locations across the nation will be at the ready to get you back on the road, and back to the rhythm of your life.
From all of us here at Caliber, we wish you safe travels and a spectacular Spring Break.
