Celebrities can acquire their fame in any number of ways—through movies, music, business, sports, and even through apps such as Instagram and Twitter. Regardless of how they become a household name, celebrities are known for their lives of luxury and big-ticket purchases. And while some actors and actresses become synonymous with their on-screen autos, many celebrities have collected an impressive number of cars in their own personal garages.
This week, our team here at Caliber Collision takes a look at some of the coolest car collections across four different fields of fame. Buckle up as we take a peek under the hoods and in the garages of these all-star auto aficionados.
The Comedian: Jerry Seinfeld
Jerry Seinfeld, American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, producer and director, has more than a few jokes up his sleeve—and more than a few cars in his million-dollar garage. In his latest Netflix series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” Seinfeld showcases some of his collection—including his favorite Porsches—by picking up each celebrity guest in a new ride. While the exact value of his car collection remains a secret, the garage that houses his automobiles alone costs $1.4 million, about the same amount as 18 sports cars. As if that weren’t crazy enough, the comedian also has his own fleet of mechanics to care for the three-story collection. When it comes to cars, Seinfeld is no stranger to style.
The Designer: Ralph Lauren
Speaking of style, fashion designer Ralph Lauren has made a name for himself both in the world of rare clothing trends, and rare automobiles. At 79 years old, Lauren has gained extensive knowledge of all things automotive and this, along with his seemingly limitless supply of cash, has enabled him to accumulate a show-stopping collection of cars. So notable, in fact, that in 2011, the Louvre featured 17 of his cars in a four-month-long exhibition. Six years later, Lauren once again made a spectacle of his collection by hosting his own private fashion show inside his timeless, two-story garage. Lauren often mentions the emotional attachment to each of his cars, and if we had his 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster, 1952 Ferrari 250 GTO, or 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic Coupé, we’re sure we would be a little attached as well.
The Athlete: Floyd Mayweather
As one of the most successful boxers of all time—and one of the highest paid athletes in history—Floyd Mayweather has developed an expensive taste in cars, even $15 million worth of cars he’s never driven. The Michigan-born boxer has been known to buy cars that cost more than private jets, multiple identical cars in different colors, and even a $20,000 gold golf cart for his son. The athlete’s Las Vegas mansion has been home to a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, six Rolls-Royce Phantoms (each cashing in at around $400,000), a Bugatti Chiron (one of the top 3 fastest cars in the world) and countless other cars. One of the most notable vehicles of his collection? A $4.8 million Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, of which only four models have ever been produced. When it comes to outrageous car collections, Mayweather’s is a for-sure knockout.
The Singer: Lady Gaga
Singer-songwriter Lady Gaga has been known to break norms, and becoming one of the most notable female car collectors is no exception. The “Born This Way” singer has spent a steep fortune on both vintage, and the latest luxury cars, from a Lamborghini Huracán, a mint blue Chevy Nova SS and everything in between. In addition to the cars she owns, Gaga has also been known to seek out and test-drive famous rides. During her “Dive Bar” Tour, the celebrity arrived in Elvis Presley’s 1955 coupe Cadillac De Ville, and in her “Telephone” music video, Gaga borrowed Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” classic—the yellow Chevrolet Silverado. Given Gaga’s impressive fleet of cars, it’s nearly impossible to keep our poker faces and conceal our auto-induced envy.
